Message from Chef Lauren:

Local Produce Update: Our first menu of September! 

This is the final week you will see local, organic blueberries on our menu. The short blueberry season in Apple Hill has come to an end. Be sure to add a pint size jar of blueberries to your order to savor this delicious summer fruit.

Our local farms are starting to show that summer is over halfway over. Lucky for us, our local micro-climates assist farms in growing some summer fruit until November. Grapes, figs and apples are stars right now. Some of our local grape varietals are the best I’ve ever tasted. The fruits we can say goodbye to are cherries and apricots. We will see peaches and nectarines for another few weeks, and then they will be on their way out.

As far as vegetables go, it’s all about the nightshades right now. Eggplant, tomatoes and peppers are all in the nightshade family and all ripen at the same time in mid to late summer. I love finding ways to incorporate these into our meals.
