Message from Chef Lauren:
A friendly reminder that we are closed the week of July 7th. No deliveries or bag pickups will take place. We are having a sale on some of our freezer items so you can stock up this week and next week, and have your freezer full of options when we are closed.
Local Produce Update:
Happy first week of summer! Even though summer is just kicking off, the California cherry season is coming to an end. All the cherries you’ll find for the remainder of the season are most likely from Washington State. You can find Washington cherries for about one more month, before their season comes to an end. So what produce is thriving locally right now? Stone fruits. Peaches, plums and apricots are at perfection status right now at our local orchards. Also, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and figs can be found at our local farms.
For vegetables, now is the time for Corn, beans, squash and squash blossoms on our plates. We love getting fresh corn from Brentwood. Many of the produce we order is picked just for us and does not get picked until we place our order for maximum freshness. And we can’t forget about tomatoes, which are one of my favorite things about summer. A locally-grown, organic, heirloom tomato is nothing like what you find at the grocery store off season. It’s an art form and I love finding ways to incorporate them into our meals.
Thank you for letting us share our meals with you!
