This Black History Month, we want to celebrate by spotlighting inspirational, black-owned businesses we admire. This week we want to introduce you to Sweet Love by Auset. Auset bakes the fresh, vegan baked goods we offer every week on our order form. This includes the donut, fritter, brownie, cornbread, apple-cherry bar and more.

Auset was inspired to start Sweet Love because she wanted to create desserts that were guilt free. Refined sugar, being a major trigger for health issues like epilepsy and migraines, She began baking gluten-free, vegan desserts, that are refined sugar-free. She had a hard time finding great tasting desserts that are sugar-free, gluten-free and vegan, so she started making her own.

Auset graduated culinary school with a degree in culinary arts and shortly after graduating and working in restaurants, decided to transition to working in pastry. She’s worked in homes, hotels, restaurants and bakeries. One thing that was consistent is that her body did not respond well to desserts. She wanted to create food that she wanted to eat and could actually eat.

Auset’s mission is to provide individuals with healthy food and to support and guide people who seek to use food as medicine to support their health.

Her main purpose for cooking and wanting to be a chef is to cook great tasting food and support people with their health. To essentially heal through food.

Brulee by Sweet Love, is inspired by her joy for baking, and these baked goods include wheat, dairy, sugar and some items are vegan, such as the donuts.

You can learn more about Sweet Love at Her baked goods can be ordered for pickup or delivered to anywhere in the US. If placing an order for pickup, they can be picked up at The Hidden Cafe, 1250 Addison St, Berkeley CA.
